Awesome Ambiance and Service
Book & Borders Cafe has a pretty awesome concept so I decided to literally stay here all morning, all day and all night. Highly recommended by 2 Awesome Foodies, Rey John and Gio Tia, so I couldn’t say no to this. Back to the concept, the idea of a library, cafe, casual dinning resto and open-cozy-homey work area is pretty awesome. This is exactly what B&B is about in 2 floors, well a loft style 2 floors.
Books line the main wall upstairs with recent and old favorite titles and even board game favorites. You have good internet, it did slow down at some points but overall the entire day was good. It certainly is a very interesting concept as you can even borrow their books and read all afternoon or play board games if you have the time.
For a self service cafe they provide great service, in which they will bring all your food upstairs and at times make sure your ok. It is a level of service in a normal restaurant as they even bring you water and even refill it when needed or requested.

Food wise I personally think still needs some improvements especially for the price. However, after being here all day and night, I can see why price needs to be a little higher than expected. For breakfast, I tried their Corned Beef with Garlic Rice, sunny side egg and some salad ingredients. I mixed this with a Ginger Raspberry drink which was very refreshing. Both the meal and drink, I really enjoyed and was very happy the meal especially the softness of the corned beef as at times they tend to be very dry.
For lunch, I tried a rice meal called Tamarind Lemongrass Chicken. This was one of the not so awesome meals which needs further improvements, especially for its price. The sauce was ok, lacking substance in taste and felt to watery, while the mixed vegetable sidings was not fresh and sadly was a little hard meaning it wasn’t even heated properly as it must have been frozen before had.
For dinner, had the pasta and free iced tea combo which was the Chicken Penne Pesto. This was another dish needing a little improvement, I could just barely taste some salt, pepper, cream, pesto and parmesan cheese… hmm… well I think that was the ingredients. Chicken slices was better and tender however the pasta itself was not soft and rather dry also. Just need to be cooked a little more or it was over cooked. A little olive oil would have been also awesome in the pasta

Book & Borders Cafe, has certainly got an awesome concept and with a little more improvements in ordering concept and food quality, it certainly is going to be a very popular place for many people. As a business strategist, being here all day and night, I can see how maybe the setup could be slightly changed for dinners. Otherwise, if everyone is staying and no one is really spending then this place could be in trouble very quickly from a customer acquisition and sales perspective. Certainly, will be back again as an awesome place for meetings, just hanging out with friends, reading a book or even business meetings.
